From Anchises clinging to his son Aeneas as they escape burning Troy to the she-wolf nursing Romulus and Remus by the bank of the River Tiber, this early-advanced course will cover the mythical origins of the Eternal City. We will be reading excerpts from Hans Oerberg’s Roma Aeterna, Virgil’s Aeneid, and Livy’s Ab Urbe Condita. After completing Latin 301, students will continue into Latin 302, a continued exploration of Roman literature and history.
