LATIN IMMERSION CAMP
Come read and speak in Latin.
It’s time for Latin Camp. The Ancient Language Institute is moving from the internet to the physical world, in partnership with New Aberdeen College. Come join us in July 2026, for a 5-day Latin Immersion Camp, led by some of ALI’s great Latin teachers.
We will be reading, speaking, laughing, praying, and writing in Latin at Resurrection Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Matthews, NC from July 13th – July 17th.
Latin Immersion Camp is designed for Latin students of all experience and ability levels who want to improve their Latin reading and speaking ability.
What You Need to Know
We can accept a maximum of 40 students. Applications are already rolling in, and will be evaluated in the order they are received. We will close applications when all seats have been filled.
- Cost: $500
- Covers tuition for five days of Latin Immersion Camp
- Covers coffee in the morning and lunches during the day
- Location: Resurrection Presbyterian Church, 2701 Rice Road, Matthews, NC 28105
- Latin Immersion Camp is a “commuter” event – we will not be providing housing to participants
- Dates: Monday, July 13th, 2026 – Friday, July 17th, 2026
- Event time: 9am – 5pm, each day, Monday-Friday

- Positive, enthusiastic attitude excited for an immersive, spoken Latin experience
Teachers
Carter Ehnis, our Latin & Ancient Greek Fellow, is Lecturer of Languages at New Aberdeen College, where he teaches Latin and Greek. He holds an M.A. in Theology and Letters from New Saint Andrews College and an M.A. in Descriptive Linguistics from the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics. His goal is to pursue doctoral work in the field of linguistics.

Resurrection Presbyterian Church (OPC)
Resurrection Presbyterian Church (OPC), is located in Matthews, North Carolina. Timeline and Application Process
Apply (January 15th – July 7th): Use the application form on the Latin Immersion Camp page (below) to apply to join us.
Acceptance (January 15th – July 7th): Once we review your application, we will let you know via email whether you’ve been accepted. If you are accepted, we will also send you an invoice for the Latin Immersion Camp tuition. To secure your spot at Latin Camp, you will need to pay that invoice. Once you do, your spot is secure.
Balance due (July 10th): Your balance is due July 10th. Additionally, if at any point you need to withdraw from Latin Immersion Camp, you may do that for a full refund before July 10th.
Arrival (July 13th): You are welcome to come to the Resurrection Presbyterian Church (OPC) campus at 8am on Monday, July 13th. We will be there to welcome you on campus at that time. The opening session of Latin Camp will begin at 9am that day, so please arrive by then.
Latin Camp (July 13th – July 17th): Latin!
Departure (July 17th): The final session of Latin Camp will conclude at 5pm on July 17th.
FAQs
Yes! We’re assuming students will come with all sorts of different backgrounds in Latin, from total beginners to Virgil’s #1 fans. We will separate the students into different groups based on their experience levels.
Yes! We’ll have different groups appropriate to different experience levels.
Our co-sponsor, New Aberdeen College, will give students academic credit for the event if they are willing to sign the college’s statement of faith and pay a small extra fee. Contact the college at admissions@newaberdeencollege.com if you are interested.
Nope – if you’re willing to learn some Latin, we’re willing to take you!
There are no hotel rooms that have been booked for this event. If you are local to the area, you will need to commute to Resurrection Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Matthews, NC each day. If you want to come from out of town, you are more than welcome to do so, but you will need to arrange your own lodging.
That’s really hard to say. Everybody comes in at a different level, with different experiences, and with different aptitudes. We can’t guarantee a particular outcome for you, but we can guarantee that over the course of the 5 days we’re together, that we’ll do everything we can to help you grow in your Latin proficiency.
