Publius Ovidius Naso, or Ovid, was one of the greatest poets writing during the Golden Age of Roman poetry, and the Metamorphoses is his masterpiece. In this massive, epic-like poem, Ovid narrates, in dactylic hexameter, the history of the world from its creation to the apotheosis of Julius Caesar, all through various mythological stories of transformation. In this course, we will be reading a few of these stories and discussing them in Latin.
