In this course, you will read Peter S. Baker’s Old English translation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Æðelgyðe Ellendæda on Wundorlande. You will see vocabulary familiar from Ōsweald Bera, allowing you to deepen your understanding of known words by seeing how they behave in fresh situations, while also steadily expanding your vocabulary through a familiar narrative. You will build confidence reading extended texts, both prose and poetry, and develop greater fluency in understanding written Old English.
