Description

In this experimental new course, students brand-new to the Latin language will build the foundations necessary for successfully learning Latin. Using the book Gesta Egberti and the Latin Grammar curriculum, students will internalize all five noun declensions and all of their cases, adjective forms, the present tense verb system, pronouns and demonstratives, and more. Each lesson will introduce new concepts by means of comprehensible sentences, images, audio, and interactive exercises. After each lesson, students read and listen to a zany Latin story that uses the vocabulary and grammar covered in the lesson. In class, we will put into practice the vocabulary and grammar studied by means of Latin conversation and written Latin composition. We’ll be doing lots of activities that get us speaking in Latin as well as writing Latin words and sentences on whiteboards. Students will need to purchase a Gesta Egberti reader, a Latin Grammar workbook, and a personal-sized whiteboard for composition activities in class. ALI will provide a digital license to the Latin Grammar digital curriculum at no additional charge.
